چکیده
Inflammation, Endothelial Permeability, and the Vulnerable Plaque The past 10 to 15 years have witnessed a tremendous interest in developing and validating noninvasive imaging techniques aimed at quantifying features of atherosclerotic plaque vulnerability in humans, most notably plaque inflammation. Among these, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with iron oxide nanoparticles has been widely investigated over the years as a mean to detect this feature of high-risk plaques.

Background: Recently, iron oxide nanoparticles have attracted attention in various diagnosis and treatment fields. The aim of the present study was to investigate the cytotoxicity of various concentrations and incubation times of dextran-coated iron oxide nanoparticles (DIONPs) on HeLa and MCF-7 cancerous cell lines. Methods: This in-vitro study was conducted at Pharmaceutical Sciences Researc...
متن کاملReceptor-targeted iron oxide nanoparticles for molecular MR imaging of inflamed atherosclerotic plaques.
In a number of literature reports iron oxide nanoparticles have been investigated for use in imaging atherosclerotic plaques and found to accumulate in plaques via uptake by macrophages, which are critical in the process of atheroma initiation, propagation, and rupture. However, the uptake of these agents is non-specific; thus the labeling efficiency for plaques in vivo is not ideal. We have de...
